On 17 March 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine officially opened the Consulate General of Ukraine in Mumbai — the financial capital of India. The establishment of the new diplomatic mission marks an important step in expanding Ukraine’s presence in the Republic of India and in strengthening bilateral political and economic cooperation, particularly in the context of the ongoing full-scale war.

The opening of the Consulate General took place during the Ukraine–India business forum in Mumbai, which brought together more than 130 Indian companies and generated significant interest among business circles, as well as broad coverage in the Indian media.

Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, met with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. During the talks, the parties discussed the path to peace, the development of Ukraine–India dialogue, and prospects for cooperation in the economic and technological sectors.

💬 “Even in times of war, Ukraine is expanding its diplomatic presence in India. The opening of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Mumbai demonstrates our readiness to intensify bilateral trade, cooperation, and sustained dialogue,” emphasized Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha.

Mumbai is one of the largest cities in the world, ranking sixth by the size of its metropolitan area. The city plays a key role in the country’s economic, financial, and trade life and serves as an important hub for international business and investment.

The new Consulate General of Ukraine in Mumbai will contribute to protecting the rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens, fostering business contacts and partnerships, and expanding economic and technological cooperation between Ukraine and India.
