On 23 February, within the framework of commemorative events marking four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the General Consulate of Ukraine hosted a special film screening in Mumbai, at @ifbe.space
Every child in Children in the Fire stands for thousands more whose voices aren’t yet heard. They survived bombings, displacement, and loss — and still speak of music, school, and dreams. Their stories remind us why protecting children everywhere is the world’s most urgent mission. From Oscar-nominated filmmaker Evgeny Afineevsky (Winter on Fire, Freedom on Fire), this film follows eight young Ukrainians as they rebuild their lives through art, sports, and friendship. Through animation and live footage, it captures the courage of a generation growing up amid war yet refusing to lose its humanity.
The film was presented to local young audiences and professionals from the fields of cinema and arts.
The screening was followed by a moderated discussion on the themes of the film, the war, and its profound impact on daily life’s of Ukrainian children.
